Standing Committees
Implementation Committees: NIC's implementation Committees develop rolling 3-year plans for conferences, research, educational programming, FLC initiatives, and the Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) plan. Members are appointed by the President & CEO after consulting with the Chair. Members serve two-year terms and may not serve more than three consecutive terms. Committees meet twice a year.
- Data & Analytics, Fall, and Spring Conference Program Committees: responsible for planning the respective conference’s educational program, including theme development, session topics, and speaker selection.
- Future Leaders Council Advisory Committee: selects members of the Future Leaders Council (FLC) through a nomination and application process, oversees the work of the FLC on behalf of the Board, and seeks to identify and encourage a talent pool of rising leaders who will advance the mission of NIC.
- Research Committee: provides guidance, advice, and recommendations on research, data, and analytical needs of the senior housing and care industry, assists the CEO in prioritizing research opportunities, and recommends funding for external research grants.
- Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Committee: provides guidance and advice on diversity, equity, and inclusion policies including training programs for Board governance and volunteers and staff.
- NIC Academy Advisory Board: provides guidance, advice, and recommendations for the educational and training programs offered by NIC including but not limited to boot camps, courses, and certificate programs.
Focus Area Committees (FACs): NIC's Focus Area Committees provide advice, guidance, and recommendations on programming, research, data, and analytics; NIC Academy programs; and new target audiences related to each Focus Area. Members are appointed by the CEO after consulting the Chair. Members serve two-year terms and may not serve more than three consecutive terms. FACs meet twice a year.
- Active Adult: focuses on the extension of senior living to this product type.
- AgeTech: focuses on technology to facilitate senior living and senior housing operations.
- Capital for Operations: focuses on capital sources and structures for operators independent of real estate collateral.
- Middle Market: focuses on housing and care options for older Americans with too much income to qualify for government subsidies but inadequate income for traditional senior housing and care.
- Partnering for Health: focuses on the intersection of health care and senior housing and care, and the emergence of value-based care and wellness in senior living.
Ad Hoc Opportunities
Thought Leadership Content Contributors: ad hoc opportunities to provide subject matter expertise in NIC publications, live or virtual events, and online curriculum.
- Guest Article or Interview: submit proposals for an article or interview for NIC publications.
- Podcast Interviewee: contribute to 15-to-30-minute podcasts exploring relevant and timely topics for the industry.
- Webinar Speaker: contribute to 30-to-60-minute webinars informing investors and operators.
- Conference Session Speaker: provide live, in-person content in support of NIC Fall, Spring, or Data & Analytics conference themes.
- NIC Academy Instructor: develop and deliver online curriculum on topics important to investment and finance professionals working in the senior housing and care industry
